*Unable to duplicate customers overheating symptom. No warning indicators are illuminated and the water pump is activating at this time. Scanned the engine computer for faults. No overheating faults are stored. One fault stored into the DME for engine oil/ temperature sensor, electrical malfunction. Checked connection and found no power to the sensor. Checked wiring and found rodents chewed several wires to the harness, accessed damaged wiring and repaired. Cleared faults and no faults in the DME have returned at this time.*

*Confirmed symptom. Scanned the engine computer for faults. Faults stored for start system, toothed belt starter: timeout. This is causing the start/stop function to deactivate. Faults store most commonly due to a failing auxiliary battery or due to a worn starter assembly taking too long to engage. Auxiliary battery was installed by the Dealer 7/2024 at 94,532 miles. Checked auxiliary battery and the battery is testing good and currently registered to the vehicle. Engine light and start/stop malfunction warning illuminated likely due to failing starter assembly. Starter replacement on a vehicle with MSA (Engine start-stop function) requires a BMW diagnostic system to reset the starter counter. Unable to perform the starter counter reset with our diagnostic equipment – Recommend dealer for repairs.*
